Nginx, pronounced “engine-ex”, is an open-source web server used as a reverse proxy, HTTP cache and load balancer. It is designed for low memory use and high concurrency: instead of spawning new processes for every web request, it follows an asynchronous, event-driven approach, and a single primary process can control several worker processes.
Nginx makes it possible to serve WordPress from a subdirectory while a separate website (WordPress or otherwise) is served on the main domain.
Redis
Redis is an open-source in-memory data structure store used as a database, cache and message broker. Page caching is already built in for every site on our platform, but some dynamic sites do not get the full benefit from it.
E-commerce stores, membership sites, forums and blogs with very active comment sections gain a great deal from Redis: it reuses cached objects instead of querying the MySQL database again, cutting its load, lowering response times and helping the site carry more traffic.
