Certified Electronic Mail is a service that allows to send and receive messages to other certified electronic mail account and to have a delivery receipt, with full legal probative value. The service certifies the date and time of sending and delivery of the message through acceptance and delivery receipts issued by the operators.

It is based on the Italian “Posta Elettronica Certificata – PEC” service, being fully compliant with the Italian standard and its regulatory framework. Soon, the Italian PEC will become European and qualified, in compliance with eIDAS regulation and ETSI REM baseline. The legal value will extend to all EU countries, all PEC account holders will be identified with certainty, two-factor authentication will be introduced for accessing the service, and the service will become a Qualified Electronic Registered Delivery Services (QERDS). In Italy, Certified Electronic Mail is already mandatory for companies, public administrations, and professionals, who must register their email address in specific public registers.

How to purchase the service

To purchase and activate a certified email box, enter the desired email address in the designated box above (only enter the part of the address before the "@" symbol). It is recommended to choose addresses such as firstname.lastname@mail-pec.net or companyname@mail-pec.net.

The requested addresses may be subject to verification during activation. System addresses such as admin@mail-pec.net, mail@mail-pec.net, or other reserved or already in-use addresses cannot be requested.

General features of the PEC service

  • Description of the offer
  • Conditions for providing the PEC service
  • As required by the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) for all PEC providers, starting from October 19, 2019, the Certified Electronic Mail service will be updated to version 1.2 of the TLS (Transport Layer Security) communication protocol, which is more current and secure. To ensure access to the mailbox, it is necessary that the systems used to access the PEC service (browser for webmail access, email clients, and operating systems) support this protocol. To check if the system being used meets the minimum requirements, we recommend reading the document: Minimum PEC Requirements: TLS vers. 1.2.
  • WARNING: For Windows 7 systems, Outlook does not support the TLS 1.2 protocol, so it may be impossible to connect to your certified mail. In this case, consult Microsoft support at the following link: [Update to enable TLS 1.1 and 1.2 as default security protocols in WinHTTP in Windows.]
