Private Whois (com, net, org, info o biz)
ICANN regulations require that the domain owner's data be included in a publicly accessible database: this means that personal data such as the domain owner's email, address, and phone number will be publicly visible. To protect this information from public access and from those who might misuse it, in the case of .com / .net / .org / .info and .biz domains, it is possible to activate the optional Private Whois service, which allows these details to be hidden from public access: personal data will be transformed so that it cannot be used.
For .it domains the Private Whois option can be selected when the service is taken out, and it carries no extra cost. In that case, among the data shown by a whois command on the protected domain, only the first name and surname of the domain name holder remain readable, and the other personal data is not displayed.
