They are three different things, they are usually bought together, and almost nobody tells them apart. Then something goes wrong and you do not even know who to ask. It is worth sorting out once.
The domain is the address
yourcompany.com is a name, nothing more. It does not contain your site and it does not contain your mail: it only tells whoever is looking where to go and knock.
It is the address on the doorbell. It helps people find you, but it is not the house.
That is why a domain on its own does not "work": register it and do nothing else, and anyone typing it finds an empty page. It is also why you can change hosting provider and keep the same name — you move house and keep your phone number.
Hosting is the space where the site lives
The pages, the images, the database: they sit on a server that is on twenty-four hours a day. That is hosting.
What matters here is concrete — how much space you have, how much memory, how many visitors it holds at peak times. And this is where the difference lies between a site that opens in half a second and one that keeps people waiting.
Email is a separate service
info@yourcompany.com looks like part of the site, but it is its own service, with its own mailboxes, storage and antispam rules.
This is the confusion that costs the most. People move a site to another provider and find themselves without email, because the mail lived somewhere else and nobody said so. Or a mailbox fills up unnoticed and orders stop arriving for days.

The useful question to ask
Before buying, or before changing anything, ask yourself: where does the site live, and where does the mail live?
If the two answers are different providers, write it down somewhere. The day someone touches the DNS to move the site, that note is the difference between an afternoon's work and three days without email.
